(I had some trouble getting the right front door open, so I took it to a body shop and he got it open for me and I took it back home to replace the motor)

Still one screw to the the actuator off, which of course is impossible to get to. Even after bending the inside frame of the door to get more room, there is still no access to the door lock actuator!

This is a very common problem on the 4th gen Maxima/I30 95-99. But I just can’t do it. Absolutely NO room to get in there! Perhaps it’s possible with the door open, but I can’t even open the door!!!!

No access to the latch and striker, either, since the door won’t open :(

I’ll probably have to pay a body shop a fortune to get my door open again

Can you give us some pics of the situation? And possibly a few of the door/door jam on the opposite door?

I ran into this problem with a friend’s old Sable a while back. Managed to catch the latch with a re-purposed wire hanger lol

Reach in with pry bars and wire cutters and break the latch apart from the inside

The body shop got it open for me by platying with the rods a bit, and I was able to replace the lock motor. All four doors work fine now.
